KATHLEEN M.
DUMAIS
is a member of the Paley Rothman Litigation Department and
concentrates in family law. Additionally, Ms. Dumais is an
elected member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing
District 15 of Montgomery County. Her law practice includes
complex divorce and custody matters and she often serves as a
court-appointed “Best Interest Attorney” for children in custody
disputes. She also has considerable experience in the area of
domestic violence. She was named one of the top 50 divorce
lawyers in the Washington Metropolitan area by the
Washingtonian magazine in March 2000 and 2004, and became a
fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in 2006.
She was one of the Daily Record’s “Top 100 Women” in
2005 and 2007 and was the 2005 Woman of the Year for the
Montgomery County Business & Professional Women. She received
the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence Legislative Award
in 2005 and the 2007 Public Policy Award from the Maryland
Coalition Against Sexual Assault and 2007 "Democratic Diva" from
the Women's Caucus of the Maryland Young Democrats.
Ms. Dumais
served on the Board of the Montgomery County Bar Foundation and
was formerly the Treasurer of the Foundation and the Montgomery
County Bar Association. She was Co-Chair of the Family Law
Section of the Montgomery County Bar Association during
1997-98. She is a past President of the Women's Bar Association
of Maryland, Montgomery County Chapter and was an elected member
of that Executive Committee from 1995 - 2002. She formerly
chaired the New Practitioner's Section of the Montgomery County
Bar Association, and has been a member of numerous Bar
Association special committees and task forces. She is a member
of the Maryland Bar, 1987; the bar of the U.S. District Court
for the District of Maryland, 1990; and the District of Columbia
